Business metrics provide important data that leads
to an improved bottom-line. By analyzing performance, business
processes can be adjusted accordingly to reduce inefficiencies and
increase effectiveness. Most functional areas within organizations
have established and fine-tuned measurements that have become standards
across an industry, but warranty is one area that has been underserved,
until now.
In the warranty industry, thanks to FASB Interpretation
No. 45, many of the top US manufacturers now provide never-before
seen details about their product warranty activity. But what do
these numbers mean? What do they measure? And more importantly,
what's not measured? How does the lack of standardization in warranty
metrics across the manufacturing industry affect competitive comparisons?
Should manufacturers approach warranty management by “cutting warranty
costs at all cost” or do we need to consider the tradeoffs between
warranty cost reductions and the Total Customer Experience?
Join us on October 14th at 2 pm/et for
an informative session with Eric
Arnum, Editor, Warranty Week, and Tom
Washburn, of HP’s Warranty Metrics and Strategy Group.
Using information and examples from the diverse product
lines of Hewlett-Packard Co., we'll discuss various dimensions of
warranty measures; such as how warranty management application practices
can vary by business model, and how warranty metrics and policies
have evolved at this post-merger company.
