Stephen Layne
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Entigo
Steve is a senior executive and entrepreneur with over 20 years of global experience in the growth and operational management of large, mid-sized and small technology and telecommunications firms.

Prior to joining Entigo, Steve served as Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of United Messaging, a privately held electronic messaging services provider. Under his leadership, Steve raised over $100 million dollars in private equity to fund United Messaging's growth from a start-up in 1998 into a global services provider with brand name Fortune 1000 clients. Prior to this, he held several executive management roles at Lotus Development and IBM: as Vice President & General Manager, Lotus Messaging, he was responsible for all of Lotus' messaging products including Domino, Notes and cc:Mail. As Vice President & General Manager, Soft-Switch Inc., a privately held company acquired by Lotus, Steve led the software development, manufacturing and service delivery of high performance message switching systems. Steve received a B.S. degree from George Mason University.


Ned Renzi

Ned is a Co-founder and Partner with Birchmere Ventures II where he focuses on information infrastructure, software, and internet infomediary investments. He currently serves as a director of several eCommerce, software, and infrastructure companies.

Ned has over 13 years experience in founding, managing, and investing in high technology companies. Prior to Birchmere Ventures, Ned was a Partner with the CEO Venture Fund III. Prior to CEO Venture Fund, he managed engineering, software and business development teams for several organizations with a focus on electronic commerce, high-speed networking, and virtual reality.

Ned earned a B.S. In Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, an MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh and a Master's in Engineering Management from George Washington University.


Patrick J. Fortune, Ph. D

Pat has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare, life sciences and information technology sectors. He was previously President and Chief Operating Officer of New Era of Networks; Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Monsanto; and Vice President, Information Management at Bristol Myers Squibb. He has been responsible for nurturing start-up activities from idea to prototype to standalone business. He has also been involved in some 30 M&A transactions from sourcing the company to closing the deal and successfully integrating the result. Pat has served on the Board of Directors of three public companies and on the engineering and scientific advisory boards of The University of Wisconsin, the University of Illinois, and the University of Chicago. Pat holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, an MBA from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin.


Fawad Zakariya

Mr. Zakariya joined Advent in 1999 and focuses on investments in the communications, software and electronics sectors. He has participated in six investments since joining Advent. Mr. Zakariya is currently a director of Seranoa Networks and Entigo Corp. and represents Advent on the board of Nauticus Networks.

Before joining Advent, he was with Dillon Read Venture Capital in New York . While at Dillon Read he served on the board of two portfolio companies and participated in eight completed transactions. He has also worked as an investment banker at CS First Boston, where he executed debt and equity financings and M&A transactions for various clients. Mr. Zakariya has also worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company in their New York office.

Mr. Zakariya received a BA in economics from Haverford College and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania 's Wharton School.


Michael Cusumano
Distinguished Professor, MIT Sloan School of Management
Boston
Michael A. Cusumano is the Sloan Management Review Distinguished Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management. He teaches and consults in the areas of technology strategy, product development, and entrepreneurship in the computer software industry. He has served as a director of several software companies, including NuMega Technologies (now a division of Compuware) and Infinium Software (now a division of SSA Global Technologies). He is also the author or co-author of eight books, including Microsoft Secrets, Competing on Internet Time, and Platform Leadership. His latest book, The Business of Software, is due out in early 2004.

Professor Cusumano holds a B.A. degree from Princeton University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University . He has also been a postdoctoral fellow in Production and Operations Management at the Harvard Business School , a Fulbright Scholar at Tokyo University , and a visiting professor of management, computer science, and information systems at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo , the University of Maryland , and the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.


K. Tibor Toth

Tibor has 12 years of private equity investing experience. Prior to joining Ascent in 1990, Tibor spent nearly six years as Vice President for Lee Capital Holdings, LLC, a Boston-based private equity firm which has provided equity capital for seed through buyout stage growth companies. Prior to Lee Capital, Tibor worked as an Associate for Berkshire Partners LLC, a Boston-based private equity firm, and as an investment banker in the Boston office of Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc. Tibor received a Bachelor of Science from MIT and holds Master's Degrees in Business and Engineering from Northwestern University . Tibor serves on the Board, or has previously served on the Board, of Bluesocket, C Systems, Entigo, Heritage Consumer Products and HSC Hospitality.
